Once a working milking shed, now transformed into a secluded two-bedroom retreat that still feels deeply connected to the building it once was, and the landscape that surrounds it.
Original beams, ironwork and agricultural details have been preserved and set against warm, natural materials, earthy tones, linen and timber. Contemporary furniture sits alongside carefully chosen vintage pieces, creating an interior that feels collected rather than styled: quietly luxurious, tactile and individual, with all the character of a rural building but none of the conventions of a traditional country cottage.
Everything has been designed around comfort and slowing down. There are two beautiful bedrooms, each with a super-king bed that can be separated into twins, two bathrooms, beautiful French bedlinen, luxury toiletries, and a wood-burning stove for colder evenings. Throughout, there are places to settle with a book or a glass of wine, but it is the enormous picture window that inevitably draws you in.
Stretching towards the horizon, it frames uninterrupted views across the Shropshire Hills and turns the changing landscape into part of the interior. Morning mist, rain sweeping through the valley, low winter light and spectacular sunsets all unfold beyond the glass, making staying in feel every bit as compelling as heading out.
Outside, the sense of seclusion continues. The private outdoor space looks towards the Stiperstones, with somewhere to eat beneath the open sky, a firepit for evenings outside and a William Holland outdoor bath filled with steaming hot water. Sink into it as the last light disappears behind the hills and, on clear nights, stay there as the stars come out.
From the door, footpaths lead out into the Shropshire Hills, with the Shropshire Way close by and The Bridges pub within walking distance. You can spend the day exploring and come home muddy and happy - or go nowhere at all.
The Old Milking Shed is a place for long, unhurried mornings, fires lit as the light fades and evenings that stretch out with nowhere else you need to be.
